Start off with a trip to the top of Victoria Peak on the iconic tramway. Kids will love the steep ride up in a vintage carriage, and the views over the city and sea from the top of the Peak are breathtaking. Take one of the stroller-friendly walking paths back down to Central, and ride the iconic Star Ferry across Victoria Harbour to Kowloon and Tsim Sha Tsui (TST). Admire close-up views of Hong Kong's famous skyline on the short cruise. TST is the commercial centre of Hong Kong's New Territories, where you can find everything from the traditional Bird Market, Flower Market, Fish Market, and the famous Toy Streets, to high-end jewellery shops and designer stores.
While in TST, visit the Hong Kong Science Museum, stroll the Avenue of Stars (Hong Kong's answer to Hollywood's Walk of Fame), and head up to the 100th-floor observation deck of the ICC building for incredible 360-degree views. Some of the vast, forested hills you'll see are the protected national park areas covering the majority of Hong Kong Island, home to a number of fantastic family-friendly hikes, including the famous Dragon's Back trail, accessible directly from the city by bus, taxi, or MTR subway.
Take a bus trip over the hills to Stanley to visit its famous market, or down to Aberdeen at Hong Kong Island's southern tip, for a family boat trip on a famous Hong Kong junk. For water-bound thrills, take the cable car to Ocean Park, Hong Kong's gigantic water park, or spend the day at Hong Kong Disneyland on Lantau Island.
